Downton Abbey Tea Party

Invite

All you Downton Abbey and tea time lovers. Mark your calendars for April 24th at 7:30. We will have a Downton Abbey Tea Party!
We will tea time the old fashioned British way. Come test your Downton knowledge and live like it were the 1910s. Let us ladies eat cake and drink some tea!

Dress-Up Area

Grab your accessories and doll up Downton Abbey style: Hats, shawls and headbands
Dress-up sign and trunk display: hat and shoe were made by me. Hat and shoe found at a thrift store. I just spiced them up! For the shoe: old dictionary cut into strips and modge podged onto shoe. For the hat: lace, 3 big flowers and butterfly clip hot glued onto hat.

Gloves, necklaces and hair accessories table. Some of the items were owned by my husbands grandmother. Few other items found at thrift stores. Vintage wine bottles made by my lovely mother. Downton Abbey paper doll party favors found here: Downton Abbey paper dolls. There are four versions: the Dowager Countess, Matthew & Mary, Thomas & O’Brien, and Sybill. They were hilarious and made fun party favors!

Tea Time

Vintage banner strung across the room above the tea time area. I used already cut out quarter material found at a thrift store and sewed them onto some jute.

Center piece for the tea table: Mason jars with lace tied around them. Center jar placed on a sliver platter. All jars are holding flowers. Vintage candle sticks placed in between the jars. All displayed on a beautiful table runner found at the dollar store.

Tea time and lemonade table: Serve your own, sorry no house servants here! Though that would have been a wonderful idea:)
Lets have some tea with: cupcakes, strawberries, cookies, veggies and cucumber cream cheese sandwiches. What a delight!

Activity

While we drank our tea, we chatted of course! However, I wanted something else to do to better please everyone.  We became a different lady of the night and named ourselves with an aristocratic affair. We also tested our Downton Abbey knowledge on this trivia based off of seasons 1,2,3 but beware it is a bit challenging.

Me: Everything stops for tea!
The guests!

We love Downton Abbey and I love an excuse to have tea a tea party!
